			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Ecopolitics <a title="Conferences" href="http://www.ecopolitics.org.au/conferences/">conference</a> series began at Griffith University in 1986 and a decade later the Ecopolitics Association of Australasia (EAA) was formed. It&#8217;s aim is to allow an open and productive exchange of ideas among academics, activists, and practitioners of environmental politics in Australia, New Zealand and the region between conferences. According to the Articles of Incorporation, its objects and purposes are the promotion and critical discussion of :</p>
<ul>
<li>questions involving ecology and politics</li>
<li>Australasian ecopolitical literature</li>
<li>issues of environmental policy</li>
<li>philosophical questions bearing on environmental policy and politics</li>
<li>public knowledge of environmental problems and the political ramifications of such problems</li>
<li>contact and discussion among the general public, practising politicians, public sector employees</li>
<li>scholars of ecology and politics, and activists and other relevant organisations and individuals</li>
<li>activities, publications, conferences, and networking to achieve the objects and purposes of the Association within Australasia</li>
</ul>

<p>Call for papers for a panel on <a href="http://www.ecopolitics.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/environmental-governance-draft-panel-proposal.doc" title="Call for papers - BISA">Environmental Governance and the South</a> at the British International Studies Association (BISA) Conference in the UK in December 2008. </p>
<p>Nominations for the 2008 United Nations Association of Australia <a target="_blank" href="http://www.unaavictoria.org.au/" title="World Envt Day">World Environment Day Awards</a> are now open. </p>
<p> A Call for Papers has been recently announced for a new refereed <a target="_blank" href="http://www.irishecopoliticsonline.com/index.cfm?action=journals" title="Irish Ecopolitics">Ecopolitics Online Journal</a> from <strong>Irish Ecopolitics Online</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Southern Cross University</strong> is hosting the second in its conference series, the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.scu.edu.au/research/cpsj/human_rights/index.html" title="Activating Human Rights">Activating Human Rights and Peace Conference</a>, 1-4 July 2008, in Byron Bay.</p>
<p>Another conference scheduled for July 2008 is the third <a target="_blank" href="http://www.uq.edu.au/ocis/index.html" title="OCIS 2008">Oceanic Conference on International Studies (OCIS)</a>, hosted by the <strong>University of Queensland,</strong> just up the road in Brisbane.</p>
<p>Call for Papers for upcoming green politics events in <strong>Europe</strong> (expressions of interest due by December 2007):</p>
